The oldest part of HerberG de Gouden Leeuw is the mayor's residence from 1575. Nowadays, the upper room of the mayor's residence is used as the 'Heerenkamer'. Just like in the Gelagkamer, it boasts a fireplace with an authentic and original 18th-century tile tableau. This makes the 'Heerenkamer' a beautiful, atmospheric space for groups who want to dine à la carte in the privacy of the group. But this beautiful room is also very suitable for meetings (up to approx. 12 people) or small conferences.
The 'Gelagkamer', originally from 1366 but destroyed during the great city fire in 1666, used to house a grocer's shop and a farm café. This atmospheric room now serves as a space where you can enjoy the dishes from the small menu during the day or where you can enjoy an aperitif in the evening. In the winter you can relax here pleasantly and comfortably in front of the burning fireplace with the original tile tableau with Biblical scenes from the 17th century.
In the third building is 't Pietshuus' from 1750. What used to be the horse mill is now the à la carte restaurant. Striking in this building are the beautiful authentic oval windows, the so-called 'cow eyes'. From 't Pietshuus' you look out on the Castle Chapel (1344) and the small nostalgic inner courtyard, the former front garden of the farm.
'De Deel' is the former stables of the farm (1650). This space has been transformed with an eye for detail and preservation of authenticity into a large brasserie, where you can enjoy the tasty dishes from the small menu during the day. When it is bleak and cold outside, the large open fireplace is also burning here. 'De Deel' is particularly suitable for parties, celebrations and large meetings or conferences.
Where the kitchen of the old city farm used to be, you now enter the Bronkhorster room. This atmospheric space has served as a 'Reception' since the spring of 2017. If you come to stay with us, you will be welcomed in a friendly and hospitable manner.
